SK Stones is fully equipped both technically and aesthetically. Here we understand what great responsibilities we get our selves into when we treat these charismatic children of nature. All technical facilities we have are up to date and in class of their own, but what we treasure most is not the technical excellence rather we are proud on what we have been able to produce through our creative minds and our dedicated team. These Stones are part of our lives, an essential one which gives its colors, its soul and its amazing attitude to lighten the dark areas of our surroundings. This is a treasure and it is treasured by SK Stones.
The world’s most beautiful slate comes from Norway. Minera Norge AS (former Skifer & Naturstein AS) is the leading slate producer in Scandinavia and exports throughout the world. We produce slate at three different locations: Alta, Oppdal and Otta.
With three locations we can deliver three types of slate that is quite different in appearance and color and in utilization potential. That gives us the possibility to meet the customers demand in all areas where slate may be used. Minera Norge AS realized sales for 160 million NOK and they have 170 employees. Slate form the 3 different locations are of utmost quality and have therefore been used in the most prestiges projects world wide.
CarraraMarmotec responds to the international market challenges by introducing important news: next edition of the Fair will see the opening of a new 10.000 sqm pavilion. This space enlargement will bring in a higher number of Exhibitors and allow a reduction of the participation fees, areal and tangible support to the companies.
CarraraMarmotec 2006 does things in a big way and throws down the gauntlet: it will increase its indoor exhibition areas (50% more than last year) to attract higher numbers of exhibitors, at least 25% more, and will reduce its prices to support the companies which are hit hard by a difficult economic trend which is affecting Italian marble exports.
Stone Middle East 2006 is held at the prestigious Beirut International Exhibition & Leisure Center (BIEL). It matches needs to solutions. The show attracts trade buyers, architects, contractors, stone products manufacturers and processors, and specifiers from throughout Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.

19th May 2006: Stonetech Shanghai: This trade fair, which alternates between Beijing and Shanghai, is China’s number one natural stone exhibition: China occupies a top position in the world for both exports and imports of natural stone. China’s building industry needs stone, especially in view of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and for the Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The Chinese metropolis would like to show itself at its best by then. Natural stone from abroad is used everywhere: in many hotel lobbies, on tower block facades and in public amenities like Century Park. Light or intensively coloured natural stones are popular, especially red materials: The colour red is associated with luck in China. It also brings luck to the producers of red natural stones like the Finnish company Interrock, whose Karelia Red granite is highly popular...more

31st March 2006: Stone finishes: Stone lives through its haptic. Customers not only want to see a stone, but also touch it – important to know when it comes to marketing finishes: Whether a stone appears hard or soft is not just a question of petrography. Marble can feel hard, granite silky matt – depending on how the surface has been finished. Almost anything is possible. Coarsely honed or jet-blasted, highly polished or roughened with a microfine finish by a laser beam. The decisive factor is what the stone is to be used for and the visual impact it is to create...more
