THE STONE FOUNDATION is a society of stonemasons and others involved with and/or interested in stone, stonework and stone art.

MEMBERS include professional and amateur craftsmen and craftswomen, architects, landscape architects and designers, contractors, stone suppliers, quarriers, carvers, artists, archaeologists, geologists and aficionados from many walks of life. Anyone involved with or interested in stone, stone work or stone art is invited to join The Stone Foundation.

It was towards the end of 1940s that Paolo Martinelli started to cut the first blocks of marble from land he owned at Botticino. This was the start of the first quarry. The business grew quickly, and the Rezzato yard was opened after just 10 years. After the founder's early death, his young son Luigi Martinelli took over the helm in 1963 and with the aid of family members he is still running the yard, thoroughly modernized and enlarged, today.

During the '70s the company also developed its initiative in the granites sector, processing materials from many foreign countries. However, a large proportions of its activity is still focused on Botticino marble, which is supplied with great success to the domestic and international markets. The unceasing demand for this material is concrete proof of its outstanding quality.

Blue Pearl AS was established in 1966 and is today one of the most experienced companies in quarrying the famous Blue Pearl material. Blue Pearl AS is also the sole producer of the popular labrador Emerald Black. Our materials are shipped from Norway in containers and break bulk to ports all over the world from the port of Larvik.

Total annual production of raw blocks is approx 6000cbm. The company employs 25 people and is in the forefront of the technology in producing large blocks for export. Most of the traditional quarry work with drilling and blasting is now replaced with diamond wire cutting. We has a highly qualified and quality conscious quarry personnel, this is most important when you quarry a material with a low recovery rate like the Blue Pearl material.

CnCut C3 is a mill and engraving machine designed to make accurate cutting out of stone for sinks and cooking tops easy. The entire process is run from the integrated PC Windows® control panel. The user-friendly interface in the modern computer makes it possible to draw, change and save thousands of drawings and figures at the machine without any knowledge of CNC-technique.

The machine includes CnCutCam, a user-friendly software to make CNC programs of any sink or cooking top. The unique open gantry combined with a compact space-saving design allows for any size workpiece without having to take into account the machine tool envelope. 6.96 MB CnCut Video

Marmonyx is the largest and most modern marble processing plant in, Pakistan. In just two and a half years since start of production, Marmonyx has emerged as the number one producer and exporter of finished marble, sandstone, limestone and Onyx slabs, tiles & mosaics products from Pakistan.

The mining company Las Flores de los Andes S.A, owns the biggest deposit of Lapis lazuli on the South American Hemisphere. This mine is located at fourteen thousand feet high in Chile. Lapis Design S.A., a direct subsidiary of Las Flores de los Andes S.A., is concerned with the industrial manufacturing of high quality Lapis Lazuli products, like home, desk and corporate gifts. Taking place every two years in London, the best supported event in the UK stone industry is dedicated to bringing together everyone involved in the production, design, specification and purchasing chain.

The 2004 show presented the largest and finest selection of natural stone ever assembled under one roof in the UK. Almost 300 exhibitors from 30 countries participated, including leading names of the international stone industry.
